We are working for the children of the Islands:

The Society for the Development of the Islands was founded with the aim of contributing to all aspects of the education of the Islands' children according to the callings of this age and thus creating individuals who are equipped, confident, and hopeful for the future.
The official establishment of our society at the end of 2019 was the result of the persistent and fruitful efforts of 9 people who had volunteered for the Adalar Kent Konseyi Eğitim Grubu (The City Council of the Islands Education Group) between 2014 and 2019.

Preserving its original staff alongside new members, the first general assembly of the society was held by 35 people on the 5th of January, 2020.

The primary goal of our group was to enhance the educations of primary, middle, and high school students of the Islands in fields such as science, music, and sports which are necessary for the advancement of children in this age.

We have always been at the side of these children even before the establishment of our society.
With the active endeavors of our group and the contributions of our supporters, we have founded the Islands' Children's Orchestra, which is entering its fifth year, the Islands' Cross Country Team, and a STEM laboratory at the Şehit Murat Yüksel Primary School.
During the pandemic, through the combined efforts of our members and supporters, we have provided, for the purposes of online education, the children of the Islands who are without computers or tablets at home with five new and three second-hand computers, as well as forty-two tablets, which we gave to the National Education Directorate. Thus we have made a significant contribution to the education of the children who were previously unable to benefit from online learning.

The Islands' Children's Orchestra:
We are all overjoyed that the dream that had begun through dear Pınar Satıroğlu one day mentioning the Barış için Müzik Vakfı (Music for Peace Foundation) has since become a reality.
Our story which had initiated on the 10th of September 2016 with the purchase of us and our supporter friends of twenty violins, five cellos, one double bass, as well as about thirty students, has now transformed into a grand orchestra of eighty students. Following the orchestra's first performance at the Islands District Public Library, they have become the pride and joy of the Islands with over twenty-five performances such as at the Zorlu Performance Center, Anadolu Kulübü (the Anatolia Club), the Sabiha Gökçen Airport, the Heybeliada Water Sports Club, the Mall of Istanbul, and most recently at Seferihisar.
They are continuing their work online during this pandemic period with great devotion and unity, under the supervision of our instructors.

Our goals and dreams for the orchestra are quite grand:
-- To increase the number of students in the orchestra to one hundred,
-- To add wind and percussion instruments into the orchestra,
-- To raise the frequency of rehearsals from two days to four days per week by creating a
separate location for the orchestra,
-- To increase the number of instructors,
-- To cooperate with music schools and orchestras from other cities and countries to organize
more music camps and concerts.

The STEM Laboratory:
STEM education seeks to create a new approach to learning by incorporating together all the fields included in its initials: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Thus, the children of the Twenty-First Century are equipped with the skills of the Twenty-First Century.
In 2017, thanks to the suggestions of our dear teachers Fatma Bozkurt and İlyas Akça, we set up a container in the schoolyard of our primary school through the contributions of one of our donors. Through the donations of many dear friends, we secured and acquired for the interior the necessary equipment, computers, educational kits, and the appropriate physical environment and delivered it to the National Education Directorate so as to raise our children in the path of reason and science set by our Great Leader.

We are to continue the two year long period of STEM education that was interrupted by the school moving and by the present pandemic, as soon as the conditions allow for it again.
We have set our current goals as establishing a similar installation at the Heybeliada Primary School and securing more educators who will join STEM staff through National Education's courses, in order to foster a generation of children equipped for the challenges of the future.

Our Computer Donations:
During the pandemic, the greatest deficit of some of the Islands' children, as with the rest of the country, was their lack of access to devices which can provide online EBA education.
Resulting from meetings with the Islands' District Education Directorate, we gifted the Büyükada primary and secondary school five new, three second-hand computers for the establishment of EBA points; thereby allowing children to visit their schools at a time of their choosing to receive education at these points. Afterwards, we delivered to the Islands' District Education Director Neşe Vural forty-two new tablets that were acquired in the 8th of November Istanbul Marathon forty-two kilometer parkour by our president Pınar Satıoğlu so that children could participate in education from home.

Our objective is to prepare our children for life as self-confident and capable individuals.
We invite all people and donors who share our goal to join us.
